TV or nor TV? That is the question.
Many psychologists today say that television “destroys family unity and kills imagination”.
In Mexico, our children spend more time watching TV than being at school.
The quality of the majority of the Mexican TV programs is rubbish. These programs do not have any proposals. The content of these programs is based on rude words, irreverence, naked women and men, plastic singers, etc.
However, I would like to recommend you a program I saw last Sunday Morning on Channel 7. The name of this program is “Domingo 7”. This program is based on cultural issues in an easy and dynamic way, without complex vocabulary. Domingo 7 covers topics such as: movies, music, literature, science, fashion and cooking. There is a good flow rhythm. The conductors are not arrogant, but they do know what they are talking about and we can enjoy beauty and intelligence of their hosts.
Maybe the only pretext that Domingo 7 has is that it is transmitted at 9, which is a very difficult hour for Mexicans since we spend Sundays to sleep more because of our tiring weekdays.
Anyway, Domingo 7 is worth being seen and we should not forget that TV can be an excellent teacher.
Remember, guys that we need to know about different topics to survive in this world. Parties, women and men are not enough.

The TV started to be the connection to enjoy and to be informative too.
Nevertheless the present time the TV has become in circulate vicious with the purpose of rotting your brain.
However, the nonsingle TV brings disadvantages to the human being. Then within all the bad one, informative programs of television even exist and quality to enrich your brain
For exemplo we have Discovery Channel, Discovery Kids, CANAL 11, Hallmark (sometimes).. etc.
Mi conclusion is:I think.. the rotten brains caused about the condition of the human being, The decisition its yours...
When you said "rubbish" I think that you were very optimistic, "rubbish" is not enough for tv programs such as "la parodia", "tempranito", "hoy", "desafío de estrellas", etc.,etc... and I could spend loads of hours writing names of that filths. I feel nausea and repugnance.
It is unbelievable! I cannot understant why this TV programs haven't got style, are made by monkeys for monkeys. I think that people who contribute whit this sort of TV programs are insulting us. Do they think that we are idiots?
I understand that TV is a way of entretainning but, is it pretty dificult to make something well? We could watch Armando Manzanero's show and it's marvelous.
But I think that we can see a candle at the buttom: channels as 22, 11 and more that unlucky are not in public TV.
There is not all the time cultural TV shows, there are TV shows for entretainnig people, but well made.
Finally. If you want more about the hosts of "Domingo 7" you could watch "La dichosa palabra" Saturdays 9 pm on 22 channel. Unfortunatly, I cannot watch "la dichosa palabra" every saturday because I use to work on Saturday by afternoon and night but it´s a georgous TV program.
I know that there are many and bad and disgusting programs on TV but I think that we are responsible of that. If many people watch this kind of programs obviously they have rating and this is money for companies like Televisa.
We have to demand TV programs witch we could acquire knowledge, culture or something important for us in order to improve ourselves.
Unfortunately there are not good programs and neither there are many channels to choose.
In my opinion now a days TV is a way to lose time. I remember when I was a child I spent long long time watching TV and some times I didn´t do my homework.
The actual tv programs are rubbish for exemple for me the worst program is "Impacto" because only people without brain can considerate funny to frigthen in an exaggerated way to a person, this program is making people don´t help a person that could be in a real desesperated situation because they would think that is a joke!!!.
So why don´t use TV for teaching good things, like culture, education, interesting news etc.? The answer is, because is easier to sell the typical program without sense but can catch more market than sell am educative program, unfurtunately because we don´t have the culture to analyze what is useful for our life an what is not, I mean we are sheeps and accept all kind of trush.
Most of our mexican TV programs are full of garbage, La parodia, Otro rollo, Tempranito, Laguna Beach, La casa de los dibujos, Punk'd and so on. Unfortunately this kind of TV shows are the ones which have the biggest raiting, and that let us know our mexican families are not taking care of quality, because it is said that people watch TV as a way to forget their problems and escape of reality and that is why they prefer programs where they don't have to think.
I've heard about parents that let their children look any kind of stupid, negative, rude and pointless cartoons just to maintain the children quiet. And as we know TV is a big influence for children, so what are we teaching them?
In the opposite side, there are some good shows as well, like the ones in Chanel 11 and Channel 22, but mexican idiosincracy is stronger that our desire of learn. I just know about a few percentage of persons who prefer educative, cultural or serious TV shows as the main objective rather than just laugh for some stupid jokes.
Many people like watching TV because they are tired and want to take some time off, so they see programs that are empty to forget about the world, but I think that we must aproach every time we have in everything we do,so if we watch TV it should be something useful, something that gives you more than just seeing many men runnig for a ball or woman crying in a soap opera.However, we have the power to change TV just by changing channel because that kind of programs exist because there are people who whatch them, as a mexican saying says: "la televisión educa al pueblo" and that´s why people in networks must take into consideration the responsability they have about what they produce.

Usually, Mexican TV have a lot of simple programs, soap operas, and contest. Many people say that that programs are only trash, but We need to keep in mind that TV is a bussiness looking for rating, and mexican people likes to watch that programs.
Also, Televisa and TV Azteca are not the olny option to watch TV. In fact, exists 11 TV, channel 22 and channel 40 in the "free TV" If We have not a contract for cable, those are a good option. Channel 28 is trying to be next to channel 9 and 7.
I agree with the comment that nowadays TV programs are rubbish because for example cartoons are horrible and it’s a shame that the children watch that kind of things on TV, in the case of my family, the only way my nephew could see something educative and interesting is by contract services like CABLEVISION, because just in this way my sister in law know that could choose from many channel where my nephew could learnt something educative and know about lots of topics according to his age.
By the other hand, I don’t have enough time to watch TV, the only programs that I always see is news, that’s the reason I would like watching the program you recommend because is a good way to learn about all kind of things that give us more knowledge about all the important aspects that our society is interested in and a good way to know for example places and things maybe we didn’t know exist.

Yes. I agree with you. I think most children always are exposed to these kinds of enviroments while they're watching TV. It is a shame that our future (because childrens are the future) is linked to a destructive and shalow topics.
Nowadays, even cartoons have diminished they're quality in terms of drawing techniques, colours, vocabulary and above all, the topics or subjects on discuss are no relevant to the children's development.
Maybe it sounds like an old cliché, but children are like little sponges, which can be soaked with many things. the more good things you soak up the children the more they become good persons.
In an oppossite way, if we encourage them to see what spoils theyre minds and they nobelty, they can turn (not always of course) unsensitive persons, which basically it is the main problem nowadays.
Children are good fellows, they are our comrades, let's teach them our best features and values.

For me television is not bad as long as you watch programmes that represent an advantage for you. I mean, programmes from which you can learn a lot.
Efectively, we MUST watch programmes that help us to increase a good level of culture so that we can have a wide knowledge of every single subject.

I think that mexican TV is so bad because we don´t want to see other kind of TV, mexican population only see soapoperas, the same boring programs, and the same movies, we have a lot of opportunities to see a different ones, we have excelent TV channel like 11 channel, 22 channel, 34 channel that transmit a good programs, if we can´t pay for sky or cablevision.

Sometimes TV has goods programs, for example on Sunday on channel 4 at 8:00pm I see an interesting program "Mundo ejecutivo" I recommend you.
Other program that Ilike a lot is "d todo con María Roiz" on channel 11 very nice program and the conductor is a young girl and she doesn't appear semi- nude like the others conductors in Televisa or Tv AZTECA.
Unfortunately mexican people like the stupid programs like Big Brother or Rebelde ¡What's that! but well we are living in Mexico.

I am also agree with you that "Domingo 7" is a wonderfull tv show, and you can see "la dichosa palabra" also in channel 22, and there is another tv show: "47 segundos" or something like that, that show tries to prove your skills.

I think TV had had an enormous impact in our society. TV is a massive medium of comunication and that's why we can know a lot of things through it, but also, because of its big power of difusion, people can use it for comunicating wrong and morbous information.
TV has a lot of advantages, but it depends on ourselves that we can use TV in order to improve our culture, knowledge and life.
I recommend to watch 11 channel (that I study at Politecnico is not the reason) because they transmite very good TV shows like "Diálogos en confianza" or "Bizbirije".
I agree with you, in this days TV does´n offer us a variety of programs in order to choose a good option, but, I think that you see what you want,so, yuo can avoid to see (as you said) programs considered as "rubbish".
In fact, you don´t need to have a special prepaid sistem of TV to watch interesting programs, in free TV you can enjoy a lot of programs too, the latest channel, channel 40, is a good option for you!!!. I´ts a new concept, they try to consider the aspect of the new Mexican and adapt a lot of programs to our society.
Another posibility to spend a good time, is our channel, channel 11, I really feel very proud of this kind of proyects, is an independient channel that has contribuited a lot to the mexican TV, furthermore it offer us a variety of programs, everyone designed to a particular kind of people.
As you can see, we have a lot of options to spend a lot of time, the sad truth is that we only focus our attention in the plastic television (Televisa or Television Azteca as you can name it!!)

Yes, I found boring seeing TV, because these days I am analysing "news on the TV" and this programs most of the time don´t show us the reality for example in the politics, economic and only shows red news like: Santoy´s crime and so on, so It´s necesarry to change that ideology of tv programs, because as George said we need more information if we can survive in this word.

I’m sorry to disagree with you, but nothing from TV Azteca worth it, I prefer something else like canal 11 or canal 22, everything transmitted by this network is bullshit, it’s meant to people without brain, just like some Televisa shows, but we must admit that Televisa doesn’t have as many crap as TV Azteca, about what children watch, you are right, they spend too much time in front of that thing, but nothing is that bad, depends on the family and the culture, for example: my little brother doesn’t watch that amount of TV, he only watches about 2 hours every day, and the rest he’s studying or doing homework, and he also prefers do exercise instead of being sit watching the stupid box.

On my personal opinion I think we should take television as it is, an entertaiment way, but is doesn`t happen, must of us spent a very important part of our time wathing tv programas without cultural or useful content instead of reading a good book or going to exposicions. I can say that watching tv could be a problem special for children or teenagers, because they are more exposed to imitate violent and damaging behaviors, so parents must be aware about what kind of programs childres whatch on tv.
Today I was asked what kind of TV programs I like to watch on TV and my mind came in blank. I don't really know exactly what kind of TV programs exist because TV disapointed me some years ago,I just watch these that sound interesting or these that were recomended. Anyway, I think we have the power to chnge TV programs by changing the chanel, if we start watching cultural programs instead naked boys and girls, as you said, our children will grow up with this TV sense, they will learn more and maybe this dirty society will become in a better one. We have to try if we want them to be better than us.

I agree with most of you. Nowadays TV programs are rubbish. I think is the same here in Mexico than in other countries such as United States because they also have horrible programs which in fact contribute with an agressive and bad behaviour in people including children.
We should care about what children watch because they could learn more with programs such as the ones transmited in cultural channels 22, 40, 11, for example.
I guess we could learn many new and interesting things watching these channels, in order to learn more about life, in all aspects, not only in fashionable and stupid things.
I don`t really see TV a lot because it is true that so many of the programs are rubbish; well there is a soapopera taht likes me a lot but I`m not at home when it is transmited, so I only see movies on TV, I prefer inglish spoken movies to learn about the pronunciation. It is said thar TV is only a stupid box but I think we should take the best of all the resouces we have and learn to choose what`s useful take it, and what is unuseful just throw it away.

Well, I agree with you because nowadeays people need to have more information about all kind of topics in order to take a good conversation with other person.
In this sense, you need to recognize the TV programs that give you knowledge, knowledge that you can use and help you for improving your skills.
In adition, it's important to pay attention in all kind of programs for chosing the important information and through the garbage.
I think that t.v. can help us but it's a shame that people use that to see topshows,viloent cartoons,etc, and this kind of programs change the minds of people in the way that they believe that the situatios that are on t.v. always happens.
But I think that if we saw cultural programs like domingo 7 we can improve our minds in good way.

I am totally agree with you.Actually we don have cultural programs of T.V. and the few that we have do not lend us interest.
Exist to much of violence and bad words in the children programs, and the thinght that we can do like a brother or family is that our brothers or nephews try to see better programs and in that way we can help with their education.
In my case I do not see T.V too much but when I do it are films.

The program that I could recommend you in channel 22, It is 47 seconds, There the main character are two students who has 47 seconds to resolve a mathematic exercise and 47 seconds to form a word whit some letters
For channel 34 there is a news program but it comes from Germany, of course the commentator speak in Spanish, but the news program gives the news in a different point of view, it different

Our mexican TV has very few programs that are worth, I think that mexican TV is similar to our governors, if they give us garbage and we don't demand good things, we will be receiveing the same for long time.
During the week I don't watch TV because of my activities, but the last days that I've been sick and at home, I've watched some programs of Televisa and TV Azteca and I'm surprised that people so stupid can be part of a program, it's incredible that they can say and do so many folishes in a short time, they are beautiful people and it seems that it is enough for the audience.
Fortunately, there are channels like 11 and 22 that have good programs for those who don´t like waste their time.

I think TV is only a kind of entertainment because family unity depends of other things like comunication, love and cooperation. But about the kind of program I think that there are a lot of rubbish programs which are boried, but we also can watch intersting programs which we can take something good about it, only we have to find the programs we like and avoid all those ones that are showing boring things and commercial things that sometimes makes us lose our creative skills.

I think that TV could be a good opcion in order to have a diferents points of view because there are a lot of kind of TV programs not only the cartoons or comedy programs. there are programs about politics, documentary film whose are good in order to increase our knowledge and the vocabulary too. Canal 11 is an institución of IPN and it has a good documentary films, movies ( french and english )and cartoons for childrens those programs for me are a good benefit if you want improve.
In my opinion TV is good if you chose the best option in order to enjoy or learn something.
Television as every human tool could be used in a good or bad way, it just depend on what you like to see, is similar as books and yellow pages to different, so television has good thinks but is just up to us decide what to see

I think that we need to be out of our home and practice some sport because of the rubbish of TV. Nevertheless some programs contains a variety of themes of interest, like Domingo 7, 22 segundos and a lot of programs that offers Canal 11.
I have noticed that people that likes programs like "dismissed" on MTV channel are plastic, because this kind of programs give us a bad way to see the life for young people and don´t include virtues and values.
I think that now a days is worse the quality of the TV programs than before (specially for children) but in my opinion also we have the fault about this because a lot of mexicans prefers this kind of programs that offer to us rubbish and stupid things, and for this the TV producers are making more and more and more programs like this. Finally I say that all depends in what kind of family we grow up and the values that we have because is very sad to think that our culture have bad habits.

We feel these programes really boring. Whereas we enjoy those programes which do not have any cultural interest, which do not have a good content but it is funny.
So that is why, kids don't have the interest in watching these programes, because they are boring.

Hi George!! For me the answer is YES TV!!! But, I don`t really like to much the TV, I defent it because of is the quiklier medio for to know what happen in the world. I know that there`s a lot of foolish programs but, I prefer watch another programs, like news, cartoons, arts movies and music videos. The TV entertain the people but, not tells them what to do or how behavior is good. The people must watch TV with a open idea that is only an entertainment not a predicador or something.
The TV must not have the primordial place on the kitchen, on the living room or the father`s room... the comunication on the families must not be depended by elechtronics.

Well, I think that is good to watch TV but not always. It's important to watch different interesting programs like news or simply a funny program. But nowadays the cartoons are horrible because it doesn't have intelligence or something that teach to the children only have violence. Some years ago there were pretty cartoons that we would like to see again. Sometimes when the parents let the children to watch the TV all the day in that cases I think is bad the TV but if they watch TV only a few hours and interesting programs )like in the channel 11) is good.

I think that you commentary is true, because the Mexican TV programs are terrible, for example gossip programs or soap operas. These kind of programs do not have any interesting, the content of these programs is based in other people life, and I do not know What it have of interesting?.
However, I have seen Domingo 7 only one or two times, and it seems a dynamic program and interesting too.

yo estoy totalmente de acuerdo en dichos comentarios pues pienzo que realmente la mayoria de los problemas actuales no tienen ninguna aportacion cultural,y alos niños no les permite desarrollar sus habilidades pues en la mayor parte sonorogramas agresivos o sin sentido, con respecto a los programas que recomienda a pesar de que son los domingos y como usted dice la mayor parte de la gente duerme lo tomare en cuenta y tratare de recomendarlo.
en mi opinion estoy muy dacuerdo que actualmente los programas de televisión la mayoría son absurdos que no dejan nada, en realidad existen muy pocos programas culturales e interesantes en donde principalmente los niños pueden aprender, ya que considero yo la televión es un medio de comunicación por tanto se debería de enseñar cosas positivas por que los programas o caricaturas que pasan ahora tienen mucha violencia y lo más grave es que los niños aprenden todo eso.
por mi parte para gente adulta recomendaria el canal 22(horario cultural), el 11 para los niños es excelente ya que dejan que desarrolle su imaginación al máximo y además se divierten. El programa XXI canal 2;En cuanto al program,a que recomienda nunca lo eh visto pero procurare hacerlo.
Estoy totalmente de acuerdo en que la mayoría de los programas televisivos que se transmiten hoy en día son pura basura.
Son escasos aquellos que tienen fines educativos, que buscan desarrollar nuestras habilidades, y bien es cierto que los más afectados son lo niños pues en muchas ocasiones los padres no pueden o no quieren dedicarles tiempo y entonces lo que hacen es entretenerlos con el TV, sin tomarse la molestia de revisar lo que están viendo y de donde están aprendiendo.
La gran parte de estas series es que todo lo manejan con violencia, sin respeto. Considero que debemos hacer algo inmediatamente pues esto puede ser un factor en el mal comportamiento de los niños. Por ejemplo, en lo personal, el solo hecho de encender el telvisor y ver a Bob Esponja, me hace enfurecer, solo hace, dice y piensa tonterias que des´pues lo bebes andan repitiendo.
Pero tambien creo que hay programas como el que usted menciona que valen la pena, tambien en el canal once pasan programas superinteresantes, ya sean documentales o concursos que van enriqueciendo nuestra cultura, por ejemplo: A la cachi-cachi porra (no solo por que es del Politecnico), o Discovery Channel en donde podemos disfrutar de diversos temas sociales, históricos, geográficos, etc., atendiendo asi a su comentario en que debemos de conocer diversos aspectos de la vida para sobrevivir en este mundo que nos atañe.
Television..., hoy en dia, uno de los medios mas enagenantes que existe; falta poco para las elecciones, entonces, ¿quien le cree a los medios masivos de telecomunicacion?, porfavor, hoy en dia la television sirve solo para confundir a la gente, solo hay chatarrra audiovisual que trata de persuadir a la gente, el gobierno (porque la radio y la señal televisiva, es propiedad del gobierno y lo unico que hace es dar conseciones para transmitir) lo unico que quiere es fomentar inconsiencia y la paralisis cultural.

Hay progrmas buenos y malos, pero tambien hay transmisiones que solo tratan de enagenarte y confundirte. Se inteligente y analiza las cosas que te dicen.

Yo estoy totalmente de acuerdo en los comentarios pues pienzo que realmente la mayoria de los problemas actuales no tienen ninguna aportacion cultural,y a los niños no les permite desarrollar sus habilidades pues la mayoria de los programas son agresivos, con respecto a los programas que recomienda me parece que son una buena obción para que los niños y jovenes aprendan algo que contribuya con su educación y cambiar un poco de lo que ultimamente les han enseñado.
La televisión es un medio de comunicación que en ninguna casa mexicana puede faltar. El problema es que la mayoría de los programas de televisión tienen contenido que no dejan nada positivo para los niños, los cuales hacen lo que ven. Deberían realizar más programas con contenidos educativos para que si los niños ven mucha tele le deje algo que les ayude a ser mejores personas.
